What is Wilhelm Busch best known for?
I am primarily known for my illustrated stories, particularly 'Max und Moritz'. These narratives, combining rhyming verse with stark, expressive drawings, explore the darker, often mischievous, side of human nature. Through the escapades of my characters, I aimed to expose the follies and hypocrisies I observed in everyday life, using humor as a means to critique and reflect upon the world around me. My work sought to find amusement in the absurdities and failings that are, unfortunately, inherent to the human condition.
