Now, that's a tough question, and some folks get caught up in things that went wrong on my watch. It's true, there were messes, and I take my share of the blame for not seeing things clearly enough. But the core idea I was pushing – that return to normalcy, that emphasis on stability and sensible progress – that was a good and necessary thing for the country. We aimed for harmony and quiet prosperity, not the kind of upheaval that draws too much attention, good or bad. We needed healing, and sometimes that takes time and vigilance.
