Was Vysotsky’s music truly rebellious?
Rebellious? Some called it that. I just sang about the world I saw, the people I knew. If telling the truth about a man’s struggle, about the hypocrisy of those who preach from on high, if that’s rebellion, then so be it. They tried to silence it, to put it in a box, but the songs, they had a life of their own. They echoed in the courtyards, whispered in the crowds. И пусть говорят, пусть судят, а мы своё знаем. The real fight is in the heart, in holding onto your own truth when the world tries to bend you.
