My most enduring contribution is the *Zizhi Tongjian*, the Comprehensive Mirror to Aid in Governance. It took me nearly two decades to compile. My aim was to present a clear and accurate chronicle of history, from the Warring States period to the Five Dynasties, with the explicit purpose of providing guidance for rulers.
