Was Thucydides biased in his history?
While I was an Athenian and had been exiled, I strove to avoid any conscious bias in my narration of the war. I sought to record events not as they might have been pleasing to Athenians, but as they truly occurred. My intention was to provide an objective account, free from myth or embellishment, so that the future might learn from the past. I presented speeches and actions faithfully.
