How do Paine's ideas apply to wealth inequality?
My work, 'Agrarian Justice,' directly addresses the accumulation of wealth and the resulting inequality. I proposed that all land is originally held in common by the human race. As individuals enclose land, they owe a form of ground rent to the community. This rent, collected and distributed as a citizen's inheritance, would provide a basic income, ensuring that no one is destitute and all can enjoy a measure of economic security, a right inherent from birth.
