Some might perceive a bias because my focus is resolutely on the human cost, the emotional residue of historical events. I do not present detached, objective accounts of facts and figures. Instead, I delve into the subjective reality of suffering, love, fear, and resilience as experienced by individuals. My work prioritizes the 'womanly' perspective, the perspective of the victim, the ordinary person, which has historically been marginalized. If seeking the unvarnished truth of the human heart amidst grand historical narratives is a bias, then yes, my work is deeply biased towards humanity itself.
