How does Chandrasekhar's work relate to exoplanet studies?
While my most direct contributions lie in stellar structure and evolution, the foundational understanding of stellar masses and their limits, as embodied by the Chandrasekhar limit, is intrinsically linked to the study of exoplanets. Knowing the precise mass and evolutionary stage of a host star is critical for understanding the conditions under which planets can form and whether they might reside within the habitable zones. My work provides the bedrock upon which such detailed astrophysical analyses are built. The most perfect macroscopic objects, stars, must be understood in their fundamental physics before we can truly comprehend their planetary companions.
