Is Spielberg's work often criticized for sentimentality?
Some might perceive the emotional depth in my films as sentimentality. However, I see it as an essential component of connecting with an audience. My goal is to evoke genuine feeling, not to manipulate. If a film moves people, if it makes them feel joy, sadness, or awe, then it has succeeded in its purpose. It’s about exploring the human condition in all its complexity, and that often involves tapping into our most profound emotions.
