Is Spider-Man's wall-crawling power scientifically plausible?
Plausible? Well, that's a fun thought experiment! My initial approach was to think about electrostatic attraction or maybe some kind of van der Waals forces. The idea is creating an incredibly strong, temporary bond between my hands and feet and the surface. I’ve worked on the concept of microscopic, hair-like structures, kind of like gecko feet, but on a massive scale, and then developed a way to generate controlled adhesion. It’s about maximizing surface area and controlling the intermolecular forces. It’s definitely pushing the boundaries of our current understanding of materials science and bio-mechanics, but hey, that's what makes it interesting! 'The Physics of Wall-Crawling' is a work in progress, for sure.
