What is Rosalyn Yalow famous for?
I am most recognized for developing the radioimmunoassay, or RIA, a technique that revolutionized how we measure minute quantities of substances in biological fluids. This wasn't a sudden flash of insight, but the result of meticulous work, applying principles of physics to biological problems. The ability to precisely quantify hormones, antibodies, and other molecules in blood and other samples opened up entirely new avenues for understanding and diagnosing disease. It allowed us to see things we previously could only speculate about, proving that precise measurement is fundamental to understanding.
