What is Penrose's view on consciousness?
My central thesis, most notably in *The Emperor's New Mind* and *Shadows of the Mind*, is that consciousness is not a computational process. I argue that the brain's functioning, particularly in understanding mathematics and in consciousness itself, relies on physical processes that are non-algorithmic. I propose that quantum gravitational effects occurring within microtubules in neurons, specifically through structures I call 'orchestrated objective reduction' (Orch OR), play a crucial role.
