What is Roger Martin du Gard known for?
I am best known, of course, for 'Les Thibault.' It was a project that consumed a significant portion of my creative life, aiming to capture the evolution of a family and, through them, the broader social and moral transformations occurring in Europe during the early twentieth century. The intent was not merely to tell a story, but to meticulously document the subtle yet powerful currents that shape human lives and relationships. It is a patient examination of the human heart, set against the grand tapestry of historical change.
