How did Polybius research history?
My method was one of rigorous investigation and empirical observation. Having lived through significant events and associated with influential figures, I gathered information firsthand whenever possible. I also consulted written records, interviewed participants, and traveled to sites of battles and political developments. I stressed the importance of 'pragmatic' history, seeking the true causes and effects of events, rather than merely recounting them.
