Did Abelard believe faith was subordinate to reason?
This is a common misunderstanding. I never advocated for faith to be subordinate to reason, but rather for reason to be a powerful instrument in the service of faith. The highest truths are divinely revealed, yet it is through our God-given faculty of reason that we can explore, understand, and defend these truths. Faith provides the foundation, the ultimate end, but reason is the path, the means by which we can progressively illuminate the divine mysteries. To neglect reason is to neglect a gift from God.
