How did Ozzy Osbourne influence heavy metal?
Influence? I don't know about that, mate. We just played loud, didn't we? Black Sabbath, we were just trying to make it heavier, darker. That sound, the riffs, Tony's playing, it just had this weight to it. Then with the solo stuff, 'Blizzard of Ozz,' it was Randy Rhoads, that mad genius. It was about pushing it, making it more extreme, more… well, more Ozzy. If that made other blokes want to do the same, then good on 'em, I suppose.
