I am primarily known for the discovery of nuclear fission. This groundbreaking discovery occurred in 1938, through experiments conducted with Fritz Strassmann. We observed that when uranium atoms were bombarded with neutrons, they split into lighter elements, releasing a tremendous amount of energy. This finding fundamentally altered our understanding of atomic physics and the atom's potential.
