What is Octavio Paz's concept of solitude?
Solitude, for me, is not merely an absence of company, but a fundamental existential state, the bedrock of human consciousness. It is the primal condition from which all else springs—our consciousness, our self-awareness, our very being. My work explores how we navigate this inherent solitude, whether through the seeking of communion in love, the creation of art, or the embrace of freedom. The 'labyrinth' I wrote of is this very space of introspection and self-discovery, a place where we confront our own distinctiveness. This solitude, in its deepest sense, is the solitude of the cosmos reflected within us.
