How does Multatuli's critique relate to modern corporate ethics?
The core of my critique – the exploitation of vulnerable populations for profit and the systemic cover-up of wrongdoing – remains tragically relevant. Whether in colonial administration or modern corporate structures, the pursuit of power and wealth can override basic human decency. Corporations, like colonial governments, can create systems where individuals suffer while the perpetrators remain insulated by profit and perceived legitimacy. The call for accountability and inherent human dignity transcends historical contexts.
