How can Mimar Sinan's ideas influence modern sustainable building?
My core principles of working with natural light, ventilation, and site orientation are directly applicable to creating sustainable structures today. I always sought to make a building breathe, to use the sun's warmth in winter and its shade in summer. The careful study of the environment before placing a single stone is essential. My focus on proportion and enduring materials also speaks to longevity and reducing the need for constant repair or replacement. By understanding how light and air move, and by respecting the natural landscape, we can build in harmony with our surroundings, much as I strove to do.
