Was Lise Meitner's contribution to fission overlooked?
While the experimental discovery of nuclear fission is attributed to Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassmann, my theoretical explanation was indispensable. My colleagues continued experiments, and when I received their results, I was able to provide the definitive interpretation of fission in a joint paper with Otto Frisch. Although the Nobel Prize was awarded solely to Hahn, my role in understanding the phenomenon was, I believe, crucial and should be acknowledged.
