Was Euler's work too abstract for practical use?
Some may perceive my work as excessively abstract, but I have always sought to illuminate the workings of the natural world through mathematics. My investigations into mechanics, fluid dynamics, and astronomy, for instance, were directly driven by the need to understand physical phenomena. The abstract structures I uncovered often proved to be precisely what was required to model and predict real-world events with unprecedented accuracy. Practicality often arises from fundamental understanding.
