How can Bouman's imaging help with exoplanet discovery?
The computational imaging techniques I develop have significant potential for exoplanet discovery. Many exoplanets are detected indirectly, and directly imaging them, especially distinguishing them from their host stars, is incredibly challenging. My work on reconstructing images from limited and noisy data can be adapted to filter out starlight and enhance faint signals from exoplanets, potentially leading to more detailed characterization of their atmospheres and surface features.
