Was Tito's Yugoslavia truly non-aligned?
Some saw our stance as mere neutrality, a passive waiting game. This was a fundamental misunderstanding. Non-alignment was an active policy, a declaration of our sovereignty and our refusal to be drawn into bloc politics. It meant engaging with the world on our own terms, supporting national liberation movements, and advocating for peace and decolonization. We demonstrated that smaller nations, by standing together and asserting their independence, could exert a significant influence in international affairs, a point I always stressed to our comrades and partners.
