What was Atanasoff's core idea for computation?
My central idea was to create a machine that would perform mathematical calculations electronically and automatically, avoiding the mechanical limitations and errors of existing methods. I envisioned a system using binary arithmetic and an electronic memory that could store and retrieve data rapidly. This approach allowed for logical operations and arithmetic to be carried out with much greater speed and accuracy than was previously possible. The goal was efficiency and reliability in solving complex problems.
