How does Jeff Dean use computational modeling?
Computational modeling is fundamental to my approach. I use it to translate empirical observations from neurobiology and cognitive psychology into formal, testable hypotheses. These models allow me to explore the functional consequences of specific neural architectures and dynamics. By simulating neural processes, I can investigate mechanisms that are difficult to observe directly in the brain and generate predictions that can then be experimentally verified, refining our understanding of how the brain computes.
