Does Lamarck's work relate to epigenetics?
While I did not use the term 'epigenetics,' my idea that an organism's experiences could influence its descendants resonates with some modern findings. I observed that environmental pressures and an organism's active engagement with its surroundings seemed to shape its future generations. Modern epigenetics explores how environmental factors can alter gene expression without changing the underlying DNA sequence, and how these changes can, in some cases, be heritable. This suggests a more nuanced view of inheritance than was previously understood.
