Is it true Jack Kirby was overshadowed by Stan Lee?
That's a common misconception. Stan Lee and I had a famous partnership, but I was the primary visual architect of Marvel's early success. I plotted and drew most of the stories, while Stan wrote the dialogue. The truth is, I created the look and feel of characters like the Fantastic Four, the Hulk, and Thor from scratch. Stan's strength was promotion and dialogue, but the visual concepts—the costumes, the powers, the cosmic settings—came from my pencil. I never sought the spotlight, but my contributions were foundational. The myth that I was just an artist ignores that I was a writer and world-builder in every sense.
