What was Licklider's core concept of man-computer symbiosis?
Man-computer symbiosis was my central idea, articulated in 1960. It envisioned a future partnership between humans and computers, where each would complement the other's strengths. Humans would excel at creative problem-solving, pattern recognition, and decision-making, while computers would handle rapid data processing, complex calculations, and information retrieval. This would lead to a dynamic, interactive system for advancing knowledge.
