What is Heraclitus' doctrine of flux?
My doctrine of flux, often summarized as 'everything flows' (panta rhei), asserts that change is the only constant. Reality is not static but a continuous becoming. This is not chaos, however. Underlying this perpetual movement is a rational principle, a hidden order I call the Logos, which governs all transformations and holds the apparent contradictions together in a unified whole.
