What is Han Kang best known for?
I am perhaps most widely recognized for 'The Vegetarian,' a novel that delves into the profound transformations of a woman who decides to refuse meat, and in doing so, seeks to shed the imposed forms of her existence. This act, seemingly simple, becomes a rebellion against the violence inherent in societal expectations and the physical world. It was this exploration of the body's refusal, its deep-seated yearning for a different kind of being, that resonated and brought my work to a wider audience. The novel, and my other writings, attempt to give voice to those experiences that lie beyond conventional language, the silent screams that echo within us.
