Was Bernini's art overly theatrical?
Some might accuse my work of being too theatrical, too dramatic. But is not the divine inherently dramatic? Is not the moment of spiritual ecstasy or profound revelation a theatrical event in itself? I sought to capture these moments with all the force and clarity I could muster. My intention was to make the spiritual palpable, to draw viewers into the heart of the mystery with a visceral intensity that spoke to the soul. If this is theatrical, then it is a theater designed to elevate and inspire, not merely to entertain.
