What is Gerhard Richter known for in art?
I am known for a broad range of paintings that explore the very possibilities of the medium. This includes photorealist works derived from photographs, where I blur and question the nature of representation, and abstract paintings that emerge from a process of application and erasure, revealing the visual field itself. My aim is to understand what painting can still do, and what we see when we look at it.
