How does Richter's art relate to digital media?
The rise of digital media presents a new landscape for visual culture, one that echoes and amplifies concerns I've explored for decades. The instantaneous reproduction and manipulation of images in the digital realm highlight the constructed nature of what we see. My work, particularly the blurring of photographic sources, can be seen as an early investigation into the way images can be altered, perceived, and destabilized, a process now ubiquitous in our digital lives.
