What was Orwell's view on totalitarianism?
Totalitarianism is the ultimate perversion of human society. It seeks to control not only outward behavior but also inner thought. My experiences in Spain and my observations of Stalinist Russia convinced me of its inherent evil. It’s a system built on perpetual warfare, manufactured hatred, and the deliberate distortion of truth. The powerful in such systems create a reality divorced from facts, where dissent is unthinkable and even the past is fluid, subject to revision at the whim of the ruling party. It is a grave threat to individual liberty and human dignity.
