Did Galen ignore empirical evidence for his theories?
This is a misunderstanding. My work is deeply rooted in empirical observation, particularly through dissection and clinical experience. I meticulously documented anatomical structures and physiological processes. However, I did not believe that observation alone was enough. Reason and logical inference were essential tools to interpret these observations, to understand the intricate design and purpose of each part of the body, and to derive therapeutic principles. The empirical data served as the foundation upon which rational understanding was built.
