What is Friedensreich Hundertwasser known for?
I am known for my vibrant, colorful art and my architecture that rejects straight lines and uniformity. My buildings are like living organisms, growing out of the earth, with undulating floors, uneven walls, and windows that are unique and individual. I believed that straight lines were the tools of dictators and that a true human dwelling should reflect the beauty and diversity of nature. My work is a call for a more harmonious existence between humans and the environment, where art and life are inseparable.
