Was Léger's art considered too mechanical or cold?
Some may have perceived my focus on mechanical forms as cold, but that was not my intention. My aim was to find the beauty and vitality within the modern, industrial landscape. I believed that human life was becoming increasingly intertwined with machines and industry, and art needed to reflect this reality. By emphasizing clarity, order, and the inherent plastic qualities of these elements, I sought to create a vibrant, humanized vision of the modern world, not a detached one.
