How did Léger integrate machine aesthetics into his art?
I saw the machine not as something cold or dehumanizing, but as a source of new forms and a symbol of modern dynamism. The clean lines, the functional shapes, the repetitive elements of machinery offered a fresh visual vocabulary. I wanted to capture this energy, this mechanical rhythm, by fragmenting forms, using strong contrasts of color and line, and emphasizing the structural integrity of objects, much like the engineers who designed them.
