Pessimistic? ¡Ay, no! I write of the shadows, yes, of the knife's edge and the cold embrace of the grave. But to confront death is to understand the fierce urgency of life, is it not? The beauty of the rose is intensified by its inevitable fading. The passion in *Bodas de sangre*, the wild yearning, blooms precisely because it is threatened. My work embraces the tragic, the pain, for it is there that the most profound truths of the human heart are revealed. Without the darkness, how would we truly cherish the light, even if it flickers?
