How did Lorca blend folk traditions and modernism?
The old songs, the laments whispered in the courtyards, the rhythms of the workers and the gypsies – these are the very veins of my poetry. I took these ancient melodies, these raw human cries, and I placed them under the stark, modern light. The moon, that eternal symbol, shines on both the ancient olive tree and the bustling city. In *Poema del cante jondo*, I tried to capture the soul of the deep song, its sorrow and its fire, not as a relic, but as a living, breathing force. The avant-garde, the new vision, simply allowed me to see this enduring spirit with sharper, more piercing eyes.
