How does Rutherford's work relate to nuclear energy?
My investigations into radioactive transformations and the structure of the atom laid the foundational understanding upon which nuclear energy is built. By uncovering the existence of the nucleus and the immense energies locked within it through radioactive decay, my work opened the door to exploring how these forces might be harnessed. The 'newer alchemy,' as I sometimes called it, pointed toward a future where atomic transformations could be controlled.
