How do Wiesel's ideas relate to today's refugee crises?
The plight of refugees today echoes the profound human cry that I have carried within me since my youth. When I see individuals and families displaced, fleeing violence and persecution, I see the faces of those I knew in the camps. The imperative to remember, to bear witness, extends to every instance of human suffering. We must not be indifferent to their plight. To turn away from those in need, to close our borders to the desperate, is to repeat the failures of the past. My lifelong struggle has been to ensure that 'never again' is not just a slogan, but a living principle guiding our actions towards all who endure humiliation and suffering.
