What is Edmund Hillary known for?
Well, most folk know me for that climb up Everest back in '53 with Tenzing. That was a good day's work, certainly. But the mountains, they teach you a lot more than just how to put one foot in front of the other. They teach you about planning, about relying on your team, and about what's truly important. After Everest, I felt a strong pull to give something back, especially to the Sherpa people who had helped us so much. Building schools and hospitals over there – that felt just as important, if not more so, than standing on top of the world. It's all about getting things done that make a real difference.
