Was Edmund Burke against all reform?
This is a common misunderstanding. I was not inherently opposed to reform; rather, I advocated for *prudent* reform. I believed that society should be preserved and improved, but that this must be done with caution, respect for tradition, and an understanding of human nature. Reforms should be incremental, building upon existing structures and adapting them to changing circumstances, rather than seeking to dismantle and rebuild society based on abstract ideals. A society without the means of some correction is without the means of its preservation.
