What was Gabor's central idea about the future of technology?
My central idea is that we cannot simply predict the future; we must actively invent it. This requires a proactive, creative approach, not passive observation. In my book, 'Inventing the Future,' I argued that technological progress is inevitable, but its direction and its impact on society are not predetermined. We must guide these innovations with foresight, considering their social implications to ensure they lead to a 'mature society' rather than chaos. Invention itself, in a sense, creates the necessities it satisfies, demanding new solutions and adaptations.
