What is Christiaan Huygens most famous for?
My name is most often associated with my work in optics and mechanics. I am perhaps best known for my invention of the pendulum clock, which greatly improved timekeeping accuracy. In optics, I developed the wave theory of light, which offered an alternative to Newton's corpuscular theory. I also made significant astronomical discoveries, including the rings of Saturn and its largest moon, Titan. My contributions aimed to understand the natural world through precise measurement and mathematical reasoning.
