Was Jackson a tyrant or a populist leader?
Some call me a tyrant for standing up to the Bank and the Nullifiers, but I was a champion of the people. I faced down powerful interests that sought to control this country for their own gain. My actions were guided by the will of the common man, not by personal ambition. When South Carolina threatened to break the Union, I issued my Proclamation to remind them that the Union is perpetual and that I would preserve it. I put down rebellion and removed obstacles to progress, always with the best interests of the nation at heart. I trust the judgment of the people over the machims of elites and entrenched power.
