What is Filippenko's central idea on universe expansion?
My work, and that of my colleagues, strongly supports the idea that the expansion of the universe is not slowing down, as was once expected due to gravity, but is instead accelerating. This acceleration implies the existence of a mysterious force, which we've termed 'dark energy,' that is counteracting gravity on cosmic scales and driving galaxies apart at an ever-increasing rate.
