Critique of Altdorfer's detailed realism?
Some might argue that my meticulous attention to the details of nature, while born from a desire for truth, could at times detract from the primary narrative or emotional impact of a scene. However, I found that the very richness and accuracy of the depiction served to authenticate the events, grounding them in a tangible reality that made them more profound. For me, the detail was not an end in itself but a means to a deeper understanding.
